Translucent Echoes

Translucent Echoes Artist Statement In this series, I explore the interplay of depth, opacity, and translucence by painting across layered sheets of textured acrylic. Each layer reveals subtle glimpses of the one beneath, creating a dynamic fusion of form and shadow that shifts as the viewer’s perspective changes. These layers act as both visual and conceptual veils, symbolizing the complex, multi-faceted nature of perception and memory.  By merging abstracted figures or scenes across translucent planes, I invite viewers to engage in a dialogue between what is revealed and what remains hidden, echoing the layered realities we navigate in life. Memento Mori

Memento Mori Artist Statement With this series of artworks, I embark on an artistic odyssey that weaves together meditation, personal reflection, and the poignant commentary on the decay of this beautiful world. These paintings serve as allocative portals into a realm where the boundaries between the external world and inner self blur and meld. Nature, with its lush vegetation and delicate blossoms stands as both my muse and medication guide. Through mindful meditative observation and introspection, I delve into the disconnectedness of living beings and timeless cycle of growth, transformation, and decay. These natural cycles mirror our world’s fragility, where nature ‘s equilibrium faces unprecedented challenges. The presence of some unnatural elements in the visual language like acrylic boxes, cloth and pearl within the paintings symbolizes the treasures and emotions concealed within the depths of personal experience. Specifically, boxes present conceptual encapsulation. Title:  “The process of Evolution” Medium: a. Vegetation in Acrylic Box, b. Oil Paints on Canvas Pasted on a Wooden Box, c. Forged Imprints

Forged Imprints Artist Statement In this series, initially conceived during a 40-day residency organized by Vasl Artists’ Association in Karachi, Pakistan, I explore the contrast between Pakistan’s immense yet underutilized resources and the collective efforts that could realize its potential. Utilizing the form and texture of the degh, a traditional vessel, as my central motif, I aim to evoke themes of layered contributions, latent power, and unrealized progress. The degh‘s hammered texture suggests the imprints of many hands, symbolic of the society’s fragmented contributions, while its shape hints at the torso of a woman, a vessel of potential ready to give birth. Each layer of soot deposited on its surface over time becomes a metaphor for accumulated experiences, traditions, and resilience. Incorporating elements like ancient Gandhara script and fragmented maps of Pakistan’s railway system, I reflect the country’s historical and cultural richness and the disconnect in how these resources are harnessed. After the residency, I extended this body of work, generating new pieces that deepen the inquiry into Pakistan’s collective identity and aspirations. Through these visual dialogues, I hope to prompt reflection on the potential for a more cohesive and dynamic future shaped by our shared assets and responsibility. From Suppression to Moldation

From Suppression to Moldation Artist Statement The presented work was produced for the mini and final thesis of my graduation  in 2017. This series investigates the impact of societal pressures that attempt to mold individuals to fit rigid norms, often suppressing unique traits and individual expression. Through both research and visual installation, I explore the psychological toll of this conformity, portraying a grotesque, boxed figure and a rectangular brain as metaphors for societal conditioning and restricted thinking. This work questions the difference between nurturing individuality and enforcing conformity, inviting viewers to reflect on the effects of such molding on personal identity and the beauty of authentic self-expression. From Fragments to Fusion: Uniting Neurodiversity and Artistic Expression

“From Fragments to Fusion: Uniting Neurodiversity and Artistic Expression” Artist Statement Neurodiversity and art are the words, my whole artistic research revolves around. Chunks (with the context of cognitive psychology) allow me to research the various research points (Robert Browning, Neurodiversity, Spatial elements, embedded layers, history) and make them inter-connected. Starting my research about the history of Art and ADHD led me to the exploration of a wider spectrum: Art and Neurodiversity. While doing this I came across the poetry of Robert Browning, a Victorian Era poet, who himself was a documented ADHD. Reading his work led me to his poem Fra Lippo Lippi. Juxtaposing some elements of his poem with some of the spatial elements, I generated drawings, paintings and installation.
